Joy D. McGahee

Get After It Now essay contest is a scholarship given to a high school senior in remembrance of our founder’s mother Joy McGahee. Joy was a pre-school educator for most her life. She assisted in the raising of a number of children in her community, taking them in as her own, or as a grandmother earning her the nickname Mamma Joy.  As reiterated by multiple people “her name is what she brought, joy”. To qualify for this scholarship, you must fulfill the following qualifications.

• Must be a high school senior
 
• Must have at least a cumulative 2.5 GPA before high school graduation(provide unofficial transcript)
 
• Must submit application and a minimum 500-word essay
 
• Must provide proof of college enrollment prior to awarding of scholarship money

To be considered an awardee of our scholarship you must write an essay about our philosophy outlining our principles Fortitude, Diligence, and Obedience and how you’ve displayed them throughout life thus far and your intentions in attending college.

Award amount: $1000
